Indus river basin is extended up to
Explanation
The Indus river basin in India is a vast drainage system covering approximately 321,289 sq. km [4]. While the main Indus river flows primarily through the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir [3], its extensive basin includes the catchment areas of its major tributaries like the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Satluj. These tributaries traverse Himachal Pradesh and Punjab [2]. Furthermore, official data from the Central Water Commission and the Bhakra Beas Management Board confirm that the basin's geographical and hydrological extent spreads across the states of Haryana and Rajasthan, where the water is extensively used for irrigation [5]. Specifically, the basin covers 32 parliamentary constituencies across Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan [4]. Therefore, the basin extends to Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
