The Government of India has announced a 6-year Mission for Aatmanirbharta (Self-reliance) in Pulses with a special focus to ensure 100 percent procurement at MSP of :

The Government of India launched the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses (implemented over six years from 2025-26 to 2030-31) to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce import dependency. A key feature of this mission is the guarantee of 100 percent procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) for three specific pulses: Tur (Arhar), Urad, and Masoor.

• Target Crops: These three pulses are prioritized because India remains import-dependent for them, unlike Chana and Moong, where the country has achieved near self-sufficiency.
• Mechanism: Procurement is conducted through Central Nodal Agencies like NAFED and NCCF via digital portals (e-Samridhi and e-Samyukti).
• Framework: The initiative operates under the PM-AASHA (Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan) scheme to ensure remunerative prices and encourage farmers to diversify into pulse cultivation.
