Dholera and Sanand in Gujarat are in news for setting up

Dholera and Sanand in Gujarat have emerged as key hubs for India's semiconductor industry. In 2024, the Union Cabinet approved major proposals under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to boost domestic manufacturing. Tata Electronics, in partnership with Taiwan's PSMC, is establishing India's first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant (Fab) in the Dholera Special Investment Region. Meanwhile, Sanand is the site for a semiconductor ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging) unit by CG Power (in collaboration with Renesas and Stars Microelectronics) and a major assembly and test facility by US-based Micron Technology. These projects are critical for reducing import dependency and integrating India into the global electronics value chain.
