The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in :
Explanation
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. It was proclaimed as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. Drafted by a committee chaired by Eleanor Roosevelt, it consists of 30 articles detailing an individual's fundamental rights and freedoms, including the right to life, liberty, and privacy, as well as economic, social, and cultural rights. December 10 is observed globally as Human Rights Day to commemorate this event. While not a legally binding treaty itself, the UDHR served as the foundation for the International Bill of Human Rights and numerous international human rights treaties.
