Which one of the following is a programme launched for the holistic development of the adolescent population?
Explanation
The Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in January 2014 to reach out to India's 253 million adolescents. Unlike previous programs that focused primarily on reproductive and sexual health, RKSK targets the holistic development of the adolescent population (aged 10–19 years).
It identifies six priority areas: nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, non-communicable diseases, mental health, injuries and violence (including gender-based violence), and substance misuse. It targets both boys and girls in rural and urban areas, whether in school or out of school. While SABLA focuses specifically on adolescent girls and Manodarpan on mental health during COVID-19, RKSK is the comprehensive flagship program for the entire adolescent demographic.
