Sub-Inspector Dhirendra Nath Prasad Singh (D.N.P. Singh) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, in 2007. He displayed exemplary courage on February 9, 2006, while defending the Hiroli Magazine at the Bailadila Iron Ore Project in Chhattisgarh against a massive attack by nearly 500 Naxals. Despite being severely injured, he continued to resist the advance of the attackers to prevent the capture of explosives, eventually making the supreme sacrifice.
