Explanation
Alexander Kerensky was a prominent liberal-socialist politician who served as the head of the Russian Provisional Government in 1917 [2]. Following the collapse of the Romanov dynasty and the abdication of Czar Nicholas II, the Provisional Government was formed by the Duma to manage Russia's transition. Kerensky initially served as the Minister of Justice and later became the Prime Minister (Minister-Chairman) in July 1917 [1]. His government faced significant challenges, including the decision to continue Russia's involvement in World War I and the rise of the 'Dual Government' system with the Petrograd Soviet. Ultimately, his leadership was undermined by his inability to address social grievances and land reforms, which allowed the Bolsheviks, led by Lenin, to seize power during the October Revolution [1]. Kerensky fled Petrograd on October 24, 1917, as Bolshevik forces began their uprising [1].
