Bharatmala Pariyojana is a flagship umbrella program launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to revolutionize India's road infrastructure [2]. It focuses on optimizing the efficiency of freight and passenger movement by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through the development of Economic Corridors, Inter-corridors, and Feeder Routes [3]. The project subsumed the earlier National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and aims to develop approximately 34,800 km of roads in its first phase [6]. Key components include improving National Corridor efficiency, enhancing border and international connectivity, and developing coastal and port connectivity roads [1]. While the National River Linking Project (NRLP) handles river interlinking, Bharatmala is strictly dedicated to the network of National Highways and expressways to enhance logistics efficiency and economic growth across 550 districts [5].
