Bharatmala Project is related to

Bharatmala Pariyojana is a centrally sponsored umbrella program for the highways sector in India, launched to optimize the efficiency of freight and passenger movement [2]. The project focuses on improving road connectivity by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through the development of Economic Corridors, Inter-corridors, and Feeder Routes [3]. It aims to modernize the national highway network, reduce logistics costs, and improve connectivity to border areas, coastal regions, and ports [5]. The program subsumed the earlier National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and targets the construction of approximately 34,800 km of roads in its first phase [2]. By connecting over 550 district headquarters through minimum 4-lane highways, it seeks to carry the majority of India's freight traffic on roads [3].
