Question map
Duncan Passage is located bet- ween—
Explanation
The Duncan Passage is a significant strait located in the Indian Ocean, specifically within the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago. It serves as a maritime gateway separating South Andaman Island to the north from Little Andaman Island to the south. Geographically, it lies above the 11-degree channel and is approximately 48 km (30 miles) wide. The passage is bounded by several smaller islands; it sits between the Sisters Islands off the coast of South Andaman and North Brother Island off Little Andaman. To the north of the passage lies Rutland Island, which is separated from North Cinque Island by the Manners Strait, a branch of the Duncan Passage. While the Ten Degree Channel separates the broader Andaman group from the Nicobar group [1], the Duncan Passage specifically facilitates navigation between the southern parts of the Great Andaman chain and Little Andaman.
