The Indian National Army was organized to fight against
Explanation
The Indian National Army (INA), also known as the Azad Hind Fauj, was organized with the primary objective of securing Indian independence from British colonial rule [1]. Initially formed in 1942 under Mohan Singh and later revitalized by Subhas Chandra Bose in 1943, the army was composed of Indian prisoners of war and civilian volunteers [2]. To achieve its goal, the INA formed a strategic alliance with the Empire of Japan and the Axis powers to militarily challenge the British Raj. The INA launched offensives in northeastern India, notably reaching Kohima and Imphal, and hoisted the Indian tricolor at Moirang, Manipur, in April 1944 [4]. Bose characterized this struggle as 'India's last war of independence' against British occupiers [5]. Despite its eventual military retreat following the Japanese defeat in World War II, the INA's actions significantly undermined British authority in India.
