Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry is :
Explanation
The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army [2]. It was the first regiment raised in independent India, originating from various voluntary resistance groups and local militias formed to repel raiders during the 1947–48 Indo-Pak War [2]. Initially known as the J&K Militia, these units were brought on par with regular army units in 1972 and officially designated as the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry in 1976. The regiment is headquartered at the Regimental Centre in Avantipur, Srinagar. It is distinct from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, which originated from the princely state's forces [1]. The JAK LI is celebrated as a symbol of national integration, recruiting from diverse communities across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh to serve in the Indian Army.
