Question map
Jelep La pass is located in
Explanation
Jelep La is a high-altitude mountain pass situated at an elevation of approximately 14,390 feet (4,386 m) . It is located in the Sikkim Himalaya, specifically on the border between Sikkim, India, and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China . The pass is a critical link on the route connecting Lhasa to India and is situated about 4 km south of the famous Nathu La pass . Historically, it served as a major trade route between Tibet and India during the British Raj, with Kalimpong acting as the primary contact point . While other regions like the Kashmir Himalaya contain passes such as Zoji-La and Banihal [2], and the Kumaon Himalaya (Uttarakhand) features passes like Mana and Niti [4], Jelep La is distinctively part of the Sikkim-Bhutan border region .
