Explanation
The National Tribal Research Institute (NTRI) is situated in New Delhi. It was inaugurated on June 7, 2022, by the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations [2]. The institute is located within the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) campus at IP Estate, Ring Road, New Delhi. While there are 26 state-level Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) across various states like Chhattisgarh (Raipur) and Jharkhand (Ranchi) that focus on regional tribal data and research [1], the NTRI serves as the premier apex national-level body [2]. It acts as a think tank for tribal development, providing policy inputs to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and monitoring the projects of various state TRIs and Centres of Excellence [2].
