The newly formed state of Telengana is surrounded by
Explanation
Telangana, which became India's 29th state on June 2, 2014, after being carved out of Andhra Pradesh, is a landlocked state surrounded by four neighboring states [2]. According to official geographical data and state profiles, it shares its borders with Maharashtra to the north and northwest, Chhattisgarh to the northeast, Karnataka to the west, and Andhra Pradesh to the south and east. While some older or less precise sources occasionally mention Odisha, the actual boundary of Telangana does not touch Odisha; instead, the tri-junction of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha prevents a direct border with Telangana [1]. Therefore, the state is strictly surrounded by four states: Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. This configuration makes it one of the few Indian states without an international border or a coastline.
