Explanation
Pinaka is an indigenous multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) system developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) [1]. Named after Lord Shiva's bow, it is an all-weather, indirect fire artillery system designed to deliver high-volume firepower against enemy positions and infrastructure. The system has evolved from the Pinaka Mk-I, which has a range of approximately 40 km, to advanced guided variants like the Pinaka Mk-II and the Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR), which can strike targets at distances of 75 km to 120 km. The Pinaka system is highly regarded for its ability to perform saturation bombardment, destroying large areas of enemy territory within minutes. It gained significant recognition for its performance during the Kargil War and has since become a cornerstone of the Indian Army's artillery, with recent interest from foreign nations like Armenia and France.
