Explanation
The ruling dynasties of Sangama, Saluva, and Tuluva were the successive lineages that governed the Vijayanagara Empire in South India [2]. The empire was founded in 1336 by the Sangama brothers, Harihara and Bukka, who established their capital on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. The Sangama dynasty ruled until 1485, when it was supplanted by the Saluva dynasty, founded by the military commander Saluva Narasimha [4]. The Saluvas were later replaced in 1505 by the Tuluva dynasty, which produced the empire's most celebrated ruler, Krishnadeva Raya [2]. A fourth dynasty, the Aravidu, eventually succeeded the Tuluvas after the Battle of Talikota. These dynasties collectively oversaw a period of significant expansion, cultural patronage, and military consolidation across the southern peninsula [3].
