Where is the Central Rice Research Institute located ?

The Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) is located in Cuttack, Odisha [1]. Established on April 23, 1946, at Bidyadharpur, Cuttack, it was founded to ensure food security following the Great Bengal Famine. In 1966, the administrative control of the institute was transferred to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It has since been renamed the ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI). The institute is a premier center for rice research, focusing on developing high-yielding varieties and integrated farming systems, such as rice-fish farming, to improve productivity in rain-fed lowlands. While other cities like Coimbatore and Bengaluru host significant agricultural research centers (such as the Sugarcane Breeding Institute and the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research respectively), Cuttack remains the historic and functional headquarters for national rice research [1].
