In contrast, Shaikh Bahauddin Zakariya was the leading Sufi saint of the Suhrawardi order in North-Western India. While the Chishti order was centered in Delhi and Ajmer, the Suhrawardi order, led by Bahauddin Zakariya, was centered in Multan [3]. Zakariya was a contemporary of Baba Farid but belonged to a distinct silsila known for its different approach to wealth and state patronage compared to the austere Chishti tradition [3].
