Who of the following was a contemporary of Chingiz Khan ?
Explanation
Chingiz Khan (Genghis Khan) was the founder of the Mongol Empire, reigning from 1206 until his death in 1227 [c1, t8]. During this period, Shams-ud-din Iltutmish ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1211 to 1236 [t1, t2]. Historical records indicate that Iltutmish was a direct contemporary of Genghis Khan. In 1221, the Mongol forces reached the banks of the Indus River while pursuing Jalaluddin, the son of the Khwarizm Shah [c1]. Iltutmish famously exercised diplomatic caution by refusing to provide asylum or support to Jalaluddin against the Mongols, thereby saving the nascent Delhi Sultanate from a potential Mongol invasion [c4]. In contrast, Mahmud of Ghazni ruled much earlier (971–1030), while Alauddin Khalji (1296–1316) and Muhammad bin Tughlaq (1325–1351) ruled long after Genghis Khan's death [t1, t6].
