BHARATPOL portal has been developed by
Explanation
The BHARATPOL portal was developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and was launched in January 2025. The CBI serves as the National Central Bureau (NCB) for Interpol in India, coordinating international law enforcement requests. The BHARATPOL initiative is designed to streamline the processing of international assistance requests through Interpol, including the issuance of Red Notices and other color-coded alerts. It establishes a centralized digital platform to manage communications between Indian law enforcement agencies and the global Interpol network. While the portal was launched by the Union Home Minister, its technical development and maintenance are handled by the CBI, which derives its investigative powers from the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946. This portal marks a significant step in modernizing India's international criminal investigation capabilities.
