The large well supplying water to the Great Bath of Mohenjo-daro was located

The Great Bath of Mohenjo-daro is a premier example of Indus Valley engineering. It was a rectangular tank surrounded by a corridor. Water was supplied to the tank from a large well situated in one of the adjoining rooms, specifically on the eastern side of the structure. The tank itself was lined with bricks and sealed with a layer of natural bitumen (bituminous tar) to prevent leakage. Two staircases led down into the tank from the north and south. Once the water was used, it was drained out through a large corbelled drain. This arrangement ensured a fresh supply of water for ritual bathing, which is believed to be the primary purpose of the structure.
