In which cell does the first meiotic cell division take place during the process of spermatogenesis?

In the process of spermatogenesis, the primary spermatocyte is the specific cell that undergoes the first meiotic division (Meiosis I). The process begins with diploid spermatogonia, which multiply by mitosis. Some of these develop into primary spermatocytes (2n). These primary spermatocytes then complete Meiosis I to produce two haploid (n) secondary spermatocytes. The secondary spermatocytes then undergo the second meiotic division (Meiosis II) to form spermatids. Sertoli cells are somatic cells located within the seminiferous tubules that provide nutrition and support to the germ cells but do not undergo meiosis themselves.
