Correct:
A
Explanation
Alexander the Great's Indian campaign involved crossing several major rivers of the Punjab region. He famously crossed the Hydaspes (Jhelum) to defeat King Porus in 326 BCE. Following this victory, his army advanced further east, crossing the Acesines (Chenab) and the Hydraotes (Ravi). However, upon reaching the Hyphasis (Beas) River, his exhausted troops, hearing reports of the powerful Nanda Empire and its massive elephant corps, refused to proceed further. Although Alexander desired to advance, the mutiny of his soldiers forced him to turn back at the banks of the Hyphasis. Consequently, while he reached the Hyphasis, he and his army never actually crossed it, marking the easternmost limit of his conquest.
