"Artificial Intelligence and Human values: Can Machines Understand Morality?" Erbai, an AI robot, once at night went out of the premises of its company to another company's premises of robots. Erbai talked to them and asked them that 'Don't you guys miss your home?' This question led the big robots to think further. The robots came along with Erbai. Later on, Media reported this incident as Erbai has kidnapped the robots of the other company. This incident sparked the debate of the values that machine should be possessing.

In this essay, we will delve into AI and human values. How AI is impacting human? How machines behaving in this age? What are the future scopes and interventions with respect to understanding morality by AI. Artificial Intelligence is the mimicking of human like activities - speaking, understanding, responding to a situation by machines. Post 2025, AI has tremendous impacted all walks of human lives. The disruption in technology has been immense after AI took its route in the market in the form of GPT - Generative Pre Transformers - ChatGPT, Grok, Deepseek. Human values are set of rules and ideals a human being is expected to follow in order to become humane. These values are empathy, compassion, integrity, honesty, self-awareness and courage etc. These values and ideals are the foundation stone of a better human being. These ideals help us to distinguish between what is moral and what is immoral?

These values are basis of morality. As in this essay, we are dealing with the theme of making whether machines understand morality or not. In other instance, the 'X' AI company by Elon Musk has made its own AI called 'Grok'. Grok is one of the most advance AI tool currently in the market. On 'X' formerly Twitter platform, Grok was seen to be abusing human beings when asked to roast a person. When being asked to roast a person, Grok used abusive languages without leaving a single one based on their social media posts. This instance highlight lacking the values, the humane touch of the technology. Though, it made people laugh. However, this technology is evolving and at later stage we can expect decency and moral values in it. Similarly, when asked about China's Tianmen square protest to chinese AI "Deepseek", it didnot respond. As the technology is evolving it is said that the amount of data being fed to the machines will determine its authenticity. These AI firms are biased that's why the AI was responding in a different way when asked something critical about any perspective. Let us delve into the AI impact on human and its values. AI in education sector has commendably enhanced the learning ability of students by providing specialised learning tools it has made the understanding of critical concepts easier. But, when it comes to humane touch that the student learn in school through the teacher that can't be replicated by machine. AI has made the tools which has made education easier in learning but when it comes to morality, machines are evolving. AI in healthcare has transformed the erstwhile health sectors with personalised health check-ups to personalised medicine development.

It is upto us how we use AI in constructive way (education, health, agriculture, economic development) or destructive way (wars, conflicts). AI is the machine mimicking human activities. So, in a way we can infer it is us the human's responsibility to use the technology for fruitful purpose. There are other impacts of AI in human lives. It is going to impact jobs of 350 million people as per the report of Goldman Sachs. At this point, we can infer how machines understand morality. Although the abusive language used by Grok AI, or Erbai kidnapping robots or Deepseek being bias of china are all due to the data being fed to the machine. That's why the machines are responding in a mechanistic way. However, there has been interventions using AI chatbots which are being used by lonely people. The AI bots are making them relieved by talking and understanding them. It is helping them to grow as an individual. Many people with depression and suicidal thoughts have been able to be returning to normal while talking to these bots. These bots are not judgemental like human being. There is no judgement bias in those AI bots that's why people are feeling better talking to them. The recent intervention by Elon Musk's company 'Neuralink' to mimic brain function to treat nervous disease is a new feat in this arena impacting human lives. It is upto the humans, how they fed data to the AI systems. It is quite evident that in near future machines are going to mimick human like values. But morality is based on inner values. Time will decide how machines have shaped their morality while dealing with challenges.
