Chilika Lake (often spelled Chilka), located in Odisha, is the largest saline water lake in India. It is a brackish water lagoon spreading over the Puri, Khurda, and Ganjam districts. It is also the second-largest coastal lagoon in the world and was the first Indian wetland of international importance to be designated under the Ramsar Convention in 1981.
