Gravitational acceleration at moon is 1 of that on earth. On earth, if an object floats in water with fraction 'fe' of its volume submersed in water, and on moon, fraction 'fm' is submersed, then
Explanation
According to Archimedes' Principle, for an object floating in a fluid, the weight of the object is equal to the buoyant force (the weight of the displaced fluid). The equilibrium equation is:
Weight = Buoyant Force
m × g = ρfluid × Vsubmerged × g
Substituting mass (m) with (ρobj × Vtotal), we get:
ρobj × Vtotal × g = ρfluid × Vsubmerged × g
The acceleration due to gravity (g) cancels out from both sides of the equation. Consequently, the fraction of the volume submerged (f = Vsubmerged / Vtotal) depends solely on the ratio of the density of the object to the density of the fluid (f = ρobj / ρfluid). Since these densities do not change when moving from Earth to the Moon, the fraction submerged remains the same (fe = fm).
