Who was the founder of Brahma Samaj of India?

The original Brahmo Samaj was founded by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in 1828. Following his death, the movement was led by Debendranath Tagore. However, in 1866, the Samaj underwent a formal split due to ideological differences regarding social reforms and the inclusion of non-Hindu scriptures.

• Keshab Chandra Sen broke away to form the Brahmo Samaj of India (Bharatvarshiya Brahmo Samaj), which advocated for more radical social changes, including the abolition of the caste system and female education.
• Debendranath Tagore's faction became known as the Adi Brahmo Samaj, which maintained a more traditional outlook.

Later, in 1878, a second split occurred within Keshab Chandra Sen's group, leading to the formation of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj after Sen violated his own principles against child marriage by marrying his minor daughter to the Maharaja of Cooch Behar.
