Who issued an Independence Proclamation in 1930 in the name of the Indian Republican Army?
Explanation
Surya Sen, popularly known as Masterda, was the leader of the Chittagong Armoury Raid in April 1930. He organized the Indian Republican Army (Chittagong Branch), modeled after the Irish Republican Army. On April 18, 1930, Sen and his followers successfully raided the police and auxiliary armouries in Chittagong. Following the raid, Surya Sen hoisted the National Flag, took a military salute, and issued a Proclamation of Independence in the name of the Provisional Revolutionary Government. While Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad were leaders of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), and Sachindra Nath Sanyal was a founder of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), it was Surya Sen who specifically issued the proclamation under the banner of the Indian Republican Army in 1930.
