The total number of members of Grievance Redressal Committee, established under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 shall not exceed :

According to Section 9C of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (inserted by the Industrial Disputes (Amendment) Act, 2010), every industrial establishment employing twenty or more workmen is required to establish one or more Grievance Redressal Committees for the resolution of disputes arising out of individual grievances.

• Section 9C(3) specifically mandates that the total number of members of the Grievance Redressal Committee shall not exceed six.
• The committee must consist of an equal number of members representing the employer and the workmen.
• It must include at least one woman member if the committee has two members, with the number of women members increasing proportionately for larger committees.
• The chairperson is selected from the employer and the workmen alternatively on a rotation basis every year.
