On September 6, 2024, India successfully carried out a launch of the Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The launch was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).

Agni-4 is a two-stage, solid-fuelled surface-to-surface missile. With a strike range of approximately 4,000 km, it is classified as an Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM). It is equipped with advanced avionics, a 5^th generation onboard computer, and distributed architecture to provide high levels of reliability and precision. The Agni series forms the backbone of India's nuclear deterrence, with Agni-1 and Agni-2 being shorter ranges, while Agni-5 is an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
