Newly created 13th Reserve Battalion of CISF exclusively comprises :

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the creation of the first-ever all-woman battalion of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in November 2024. This newly sanctioned unit is designated as the 13th Reserve Battalion of the force.

• Composition: It exclusively comprises 1,025 female personnel led by a senior commandant-rank officer.
• Objective: The battalion is intended to enhance gender diversity and empower women in the security sector.
• Roles: Personnel will be trained for multifarious roles, including serving as commandos in VIP security, and providing security for airports, the Delhi Metro, and other critical infrastructure.

With this move, the CISF becomes the second Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) after the CRPF to have a dedicated all-women battalion. While the force already had approximately 7% women, this is the first time an entire reserve battalion has been made exclusive to female personnel.
