The Ґaris AgreementҠadopted in Conference of the Parties (COP 21 ) in December 2015 will be effective provided the document is signed by :
Explanation
The Paris Agreement, adopted at COP21 in December 2015, established a specific 'double trigger' mechanism for its entry into force. According to Article 21 of the Agreement, it would become effective on the thirtieth day after at least 55 Parties to the UNFCCC, accounting for at least an estimated 55% of total global greenhouse gas emissions, deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval, or accession. This dual requirement ensured both broad participation and the inclusion of major emitters. These conditions were officially met on October 5, 2016, allowing the Agreement to enter into force on November 4, 2016 [1]. The percentage of emissions for each Party was based on the most up-to-date data communicated by the UNFCCC secretariat at the time of adoption.
