Which one among the follow- ing is not correct regarding Tsunami ?
Explanation
Tsunamis are characterized by extremely long wavelengths, often exceeding 500 km [4]. In the deep ocean, they have a very small amplitude, typically around 0.3 to 0.6 meters (roughly 12 inches), making them nearly imperceptible to ships [6]. As they approach shallower water, the shoaling effect causes the wave speed to decrease and the amplitude to increase significantly, sometimes reaching heights of 20 to 30 meters [2]. Regarding their generation, tsunamis are triggered by sudden water displacement from earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, or meteorite impacts [4]. While they are colloquially called 'tidal waves', oceanographers discourage this term because tides do not play a role in their generation [3]. Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun, whereas tsunamis are seismic or displacement-driven events.
