Question map
Paradeep Port is located on the delta of the river
Explanation
Paradeep Port (also spelled Paradip) is a major deep-water port located on the east coast of India in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. It is situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi River and the Bay of Bengal, specifically on the delta of the Mahanadi River [3]. Established in 1966, it serves as a critical hub for handling bulk cargo such as iron ore and coal. While the Brahmani and Baitarani rivers also flow through Odisha and form a delta complex nearby, the port itself is specifically identified with the Mahanadi delta and its estuary. The port's strategic location allows it to serve a vast hinterland including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and parts of Uttar Pradesh [2]. It remains one of the largest and most important commercial gateways on India's eastern seaboard.
