Your answer:  ·  Correct: A

Explanation

The Chamber of Princes (also known as Narendra Mandal) was established in 1921 following the recommendations of the Montagu-Chelmsford Reforms, which were given legal shape by the Government of India Act 1919.

  • The Chamber was created to provide a forum where the rulers of the Princely States could consult with each other and discuss matters of common interest, as well as their relationship with the British Government.
  • It consisted of 120 members: 108 rulers of the more significant states who were members in their own right, and 12 members elected by the rulers of 127 other states.
  • The Viceroy of India served as the President of the Chamber.
  • The Act of 1909 (Morley-Minto) focused on communal electorates, while the Charter Acts of 1853 and 1793 dealt with the East India Company's administration and trade monopoly.
