The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Fire Wing is the largest specialized fire protection force in India, currently providing fire coverage to approximately 114 vital industrial units. According to official CISF and Ministry of Home Affairs data, its fire protection services extend to critical sectors such as atomic power plants, space installations, sea ports, oil refineries, steel plants, fertilizer plants, and airports. While the CISF provides security personnel for coal mines (under its Security Wing), the specialized fire-fighting and safety operations within coal mines are generally managed by the internal safety departments of the coal companies themselves (e.g., Coal India Limited) rather than the CISF Fire Wing.
