The "New Start" treaty is a bilateral strategic nuclear arms reduction treaty between the USA and the Russian Federation. The treaty was signed on April 8, 2010, and entered into force on February 5, 2011. The treaty limits the number of deployed strategic nuclear warheads to 1,550 and the number of deployed and non-deployed inter-continental ballistic missile launchers, submarine-launched ballistic missile launchers, and heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments to 800.
