The Mughal Emperor Jahandar Shah`s reign came to an early end when he was defeated by his nephew, Farrukhsiyar, in a battle. Jahandar Shah became the Mughal Emperor in 1712 after the death of his father, Bahadur Shah I. However, his reign was marked by incompetence and misrule. His indulgence in vices and his weak leadership led to discontent among the nobles and officials of the Mughal court.

In 1713, Farrukhsiyar, who was supported by powerful nobles and regional governors, challenged Jahandar Shah`s authority. A battle took place between the forces of Jahandar Shah and Farrukhsiyar, in which Jahandar Shah was defeated. Following his defeat, Jahandar Shah was captured, deposed, and later executed in 1713. This marked the end of his reign as the Mughal Emperor.
