The members of Rajya Sabha are elected by the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of the States and Union territories. The election process is conducted through the system of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote.
It`s important to note that while the term of Rajya Sabha members is 6 years, they can also resign or be disqualified from their membership before the completion of their term. However, the normal tenure is 6 years, and every two years, there is a rotation of members to maintain the continuity of the Rajya Sabha.
