The major aim of land reforms was providing agricultural land to all the landless. This statement is not entirely accurate as land reforms in independent India had multiple objectives, including abolition of intermediaries, tenancy reforms, and imposition of ceiling on land holdings. While providing agricultural land to landless farmers was one of the objectives, it was not the only aim of land reforms.
