The correct statement is "Tansen was the title given to him by Emperor Akbar".

Mian Tansen was a renowned musician and one of the ‘Navaratnas’ in the court of Emperor Akbar. The title ‘Mian’ was given to him by Akbar. He is known for his compositions in both classical Hindustani music and devotional songs. Tansen is believed to have invented several Ragas such as Darbari Kanada, Miyan Ki Malhar and Miyan Ki Todi.
