Sonoran is a
Explanation
The Sonoran is a major desert area located in North America, specifically spanning across the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico [1]. It covers approximately 120,000 square miles, encompassing parts of Arizona, southeastern California, and the Mexican states of Baja California and Sonora. It is recognized as one of the four major North American deserts alongside the Mojave, Chihuahuan, and Great Basin deserts [1]. The Sonoran Desert is distinguished by its high biological diversity and unique biseasonal rainfall pattern, which supports iconic vegetation such as the Saguaro cactus. Unlike the Mistral, which is a seasonal wind of France, or specific Mediterranean cash crops, the Sonoran is strictly a physiographic desert region [1]. It is characterized by arid conditions, xerophytic vegetation, and mountainous terrain including the Mogollon Rim [2].
