Where is Asan Conservation Reserve located?
Explanation
The Asan Conservation Reserve is located in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. Established in 2005, it holds the distinction of being India's first conservation reserve. It is a man-made wetland situated at the confluence of the Asan and Yamuna Rivers. In 2020, it became the first site in Uttarakhand to be designated as a Ramsar site of international importance [1]. The reserve is a critical habitat for migratory birds along the Central Asian Flyway, supporting over 330 species, including globally threatened ones like the white-rumped vulture and Baer’s pochard. Located approximately 40-43 km west of Dehradun on the Dehradun-Paonta road, it is a prominent destination for birdwatching and biodiversity conservation in the Himalayan foothills.
