At Devprayag, the Alaknanda and the Bhagirathi rivers come together to form the River Ganga. Devprayag is a town located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The Alaknanda river originates from the Alaknanda Glacier in the Satopanth Glacier and the Bhagirathi river originates from the Gangotri Glacier. These two rivers merge at Devprayag to form the holy River Ganga. This confluence is considered extremely sacred by Hindus and attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. It is believed that taking a dip at the Sangam, the point of confluence, can wash away sins and purify the soul. Devprayag is also home to many ancient temples and is a popular destination for spiritual seekers and tourists alike.
