During the Delhi Sultanate, the court language was Persian (option 2). Persian was widely used in the administration and for official purposes. It was the language of communication between the ruling elite and the courtiers. Persian had gained prominence in the medieval period as it was the language of the earlier Muslim rulers of Persia and Central Asia. It was also the language of the intellectuals and scholars, and the literature produced during this era was mostly in Persian. While Hindi (option 3) was spoken by the common people, it did not have the same status as Persian in the court. Similarly, Urdu (option 1) and Arabic (option 4) were not the primary court languages during the Delhi Sultanate.
