The ‘Common Carbon Metric’ developed by UNEP is used for assessing the carbon footprint of building operations around the world. It is a standardized methodology for measuring and reporting the carbon emissions from buildings and construction projects, based on the life cycle approach. The aim of this metric is to promote a common understanding of carbon accounting in the building sector and to facilitate comparison of the carbon performance of buildings across countries and regions.
