The Social Justice Bench was constituted by Chief Justice of India H. L. Dattu. This bench was set up to exclusively deal with cases concerning social issues, particularly those related to women, children, and the underprivileged, and to issue speedy directions. The bench was headed by Justice Madan B. Lokur and also included Justice U.U. Lalit.
