The Nalanda University, one of the oldest universities in India, was located in the state of Bihar. The university was established in the 5th century CE and it quickly became a renowned center for learning and education. Scholars from all over the world came to Nalanda to study various subjects including Buddhist philosophy, logic, medicine, and astronomy. At its peak, Nalanda University had thousands of students and hundreds of teachers. It was known for its vast library, which housed numerous ancient manuscripts and texts. Unfortunately, the university was destroyed by invaders in the 12th century and remained in ruins until it was revived as a modern university in 2014.
