The seasonal reversal of winds is a typical characteristic of the monsoon climate. Monsoon winds are seasonal winds that blow over the Indian subcontinent and adjacent areas of Southeast Asia. During the summer season, the monsoon winds blow from the Indian Ocean towards the landmass of India, bringing heavy rainfall to the region. In the winter season, the winds blow in the opposite direction, i.e. from land to the sea, resulting in dry weather conditions. This phenomenon is known as the winter monsoon or the northeast monsoon. The monsoon climate is found in parts of India, Southeast Asia, and East Asia.
